Smashburger is soon coming to this area, and the chain is holding a Salt Lake City band competition, mentioned earlier in this blog. Here is an update from the good people at Smashburger:
Sixteen Utah bands are now finalists in the Smash Salt Lake City Band Competition. An online public vote [began] Aug. 8 and runs through Wednesday, Aug. 12. Voting will close at 4 p.m. and the winning band will be notified by 5 p.m. The chosen band will play a one-hour set Saturday, Aug. 15 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. from Utahs first Smashburgers in West Valley City at 3513 South 2700 West. Fans are invited to check out video performances of all 16 bands at www.smashburger.com/bands and cast their vote. The winning band will be paid in Smashburgers and water. About the Competition and Smashburger
Created for true burger fanatics, Smashburger is a fast-casual concept that is leading the better burger market in Colorado, Texas, Kansas and Minnesota. Utahs first two Smashburger locations will open in West Valley on Wednesday, Aug. 12 located at 3513 South 2700 West and Salt Lake City on Wednesday, Aug. 19 located at 1028 East 2100 South.

Finalists will be notified of their inclusion in the competition. The Most Smashing Band will be chosen by the public through online voting, which runs Saturday, Aug. 8 through Wednesday, Aug. 12. The Smash Salt Lake City winner will be announced Wednesday, Aug. 12. Be sure to log onto www.smashburger.com/bands to see how your band is faring and remind your friends to vote.
If you will work for burgers, this could be the gig for you. The winning band will play a one-hour set at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009. Additionally, a live radio remote with Salt Lake-based X96 96.3 FM is scheduled during the bands set.
