Fast-Casual Burger Restaurant to Host Twin Cities Most Smashing Band Contest

(MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.) – Come this May, Smashburger will be bringing Twin Cities burger lovers a better burger. The restaurant is hosting the Most Smashing Band Competition to find some great entertainment to kick off its Minnesota debut. Created for true burger fanatics, Smashburger is a fast-casual concept that is leading the better burger market in Colorado, Texas, and Kansas. Minnesota’s first Smashburger location will open at 3900 Silver Lake Road in Minneapolis on May 9, 2009.

Think your band has what it takes? Here’s how to get in the running:
1. Upload a video of you/your band performing (PG, please) to YouTube by Wednesday, April 15.

Finalists will be notified of their inclusion in the competition.

The Most Smashing Band will be chosen by the public through online voting, which runs April 20 through May 11.

The Most Smashing Band will be announced Wednesday, May 13. Be sure to log onto to see how your band is faring and remind your friends to vote.

The winning band will play a one-hour set at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 and if you will work for burgers, this could be the gig for you. Local media will be invited to this event and bands’ videos will be posted on the national Smashburger website. A large crowd is anticipated, and there is potential for media coverage for the grand opening. Bands are responsible for transporting their own instruments and taking care of any sound equipment needs.
