Smashburger to open 61 new restaurants on East Coast

Denver burger chain Smashburger said it’s added three franchise partners that will open 61 new restaurants in Florida, New York and North Carolina.

Smashburger currently operates 315 restaurants in the world.

The new Florida partner, Regrub LLC, said it plans to open 34 new restaurants set in the next eight years in the Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples areas.

The New York partners, brothers Brad and Drew DeGrazia, said they plan to open 23 Smashburger restaurants in upstate New York in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse.

And the North Carolina partners, Paul andKathleen Thaller, said they’ll open four restaurants in the Wilmington, New Bern, and Jacksonville, N.C. areas.

“Each of these markets present substantial growth opportunities for the brand,” said Scott Crane, Smashburger CEO, in a statement.

In April, Smashburger announced plans to expand in the United Kingdom, where a new partner plans to open as many as 35 new restaurants.

The company announced aggressive expansion plans last May.
