It was 2007, and we were starving for a good burger. Sure, there were plenty of them out there, but they all tasted the same rushed. Trading savoriness for speediness. Convenience over craftsmanship. A quick experience instead of a taste experience.
Using custom-forged burger smashers, we set forth to craft the best burgers, fries, and shakes on the planet (or least in Denver). And boy, did the people respond.
Clearly we weren't the only ones craving a better burger experience—our ravenous fans couldn't get enough. Our rosemary SmashFries® were so good that we started receiving hate mail from customers who couldn't stop devouring them!
We are beyond grateful for our initial fans’ support. It has been an honor to grow from our first location to serve Smashburger lovers everywhere.

The Mac & Cheese Burger originally debuted in February 2023 to rave reviews. On a TikTok from the chain, fans begged the chain to keep the burger on the menu permanently and said, “I HAD IT THE OTHER DAY AND FELL IN LOVE.” According to Smashburger Senior Vice President of Global Operations Toni Bianco in a press release from the brand, "After the Mac & Cheese Burger became one of our top performing LTOs [limited-time offers] of all time, we knew we had to bring the beloved dish back to satisfy our guests' cravings and turn up the heat with the new Scorchin' Hot Mac & Cheese Burger."
